What is an IPL treatment?
If sun damage, redness, age spots, or uneven skin tone have left your complexion looking tired, Lumecca IPL by InMode offers one of the most advanced Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments available.
At Okgn Laser Lounge, we proudly provide Lumecca IPL treatments in Oliver, BC, helping clients throughout the South Okanagan achieve clearer, healthier-looking skin with personalized care from a licensed nurse and certified laser technician.

How does Lumecca IPL work?
-
Lumecca is an advanced Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology that delivers carefully controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light that are absorbed by excess pigment (melanin) and visible blood vessels (hemoglobin).
-
The targeted pigment or vessel gradually breaks down and is naturally eliminated by your body over the following days and weeks. This process helps reduce discoloration and redness while revealing healthier-looking skin.
-
Compared with many conventional IPL systems, Lumecca is designed to deliver higher peak power, allowing many patients to achieve noticeable improvements in fewer treatment sessions. Individual results vary depending on your skin type and treatment goals.

What to expect during a Lumecca IPL treatment
-
Most Lumecca treatments take between 20–45 minutes, depending on the treatment area.
-
Many people describe the sensation as a quick snap of an elastic band against the skin. The sapphire cooling tip helps improve comfort throughout the procedure.
-
Following treatment, pigmented spots often darken temporarily before naturally flaking away over approximately one to two weeks. Redness and visible vessels gradually fade as the body clears the treated vessels.
-
Because skin continues to improve over time, results become more noticeable in the weeks following treatment.
Frequently asked questions about Intense Pulsed Light treatments
Is Lumecca IPL safe?
When performed by a properly trained provider, Lumecca is considered a safe and effective treatment for appropriately selected patients. A consultation is required to determine whether you're a suitable candidate.
How many IPL sessions do I need?
Many patients see visible improvement after just one treatment, although a series of 1–3 sessions is commonly recommended for optimal correction of pigmentation and vascular concerns. Maintenance treatments may be recommended to address future sun damage and help keep your skin looking its best.
Does Lumecca IPL help with rosacea or sun damage?
Yes. Lumecca is specifically designed to target many forms of sun-induced pigmentation, including freckles, age spots, and sun spots. While it does not cure rosacea, it can significantly improve facial redness and visible blood vessels commonly associated with rosacea.
Is there any downtime?
Most clients experience mild redness for several hours after treatment. Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before naturally shedding over the following one to two weeks.
